Economics and Management (BiGSEM)

• The Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management (BiGSEM) offers a Ph.D. program in Economics and Management which ensures in an international and interdisciplinary environment a comprehensive education in both fields. Research and teaching at BiGSEM are based on normative and descriptive theory approaches, empirical analyses, experiments, and, as an important tool and essential formal language, quantitative methods
• The program is divided into two parts â?? a compulsory part and a specialization part. In the compulsory part students have to successfully complete courses in three of the following areas: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Business Administration, Management and Decision Science, and Quantitative Methods. During the specialization part students prepare their doctoral thesis and attend lectures and seminars in one of the areas of the compulsory part and a field of specialization. Students can choose their field of specialization among numerous modern research areas such as Financial Economics, Industrial Organization, Mathematical Economics, Dynamic Macroeconomics, Auditing and Accounting, Statistics and Econometrics, Economics of Information, Information Management, Game Theory, Marketing, etc

• M Phil or Double Master Degree for PhD programs in the same discipline
• Research thesis in the same discipline

• TOEFL 210 to 220 (Computer Base)
• IELTS 6.0 band or above
